OPE’s product is mainly electricity:

Oshakati Premier Electric is mainly responsible for the distribution and supply of electricity within the boundaries of Oshakati. OPE purchase its electricity from NamPower who is responsible for the Generation and Transmission of electricity throughout Namibia.

Oshakati’s monthly average Maximum Demand is in the region of between 8MVA and 10,5MVA whereas its average monthly Consumption is in the region of 3,5 million and 4,5 million units. Oshakati has an installed capacity of 20MVA.

In terms of electricity consumption, Oshakati town which is the strong customer base of OPE is ranked the fourth biggest consumer of electricity after Windhoek; Walvisbay and Swakopmund.

OPE’s customer base range from large industries such as CocaCola; MeatCo; NamWater; commercial centres such as Game shopping complex, Etango shopping complex, Yetu shopping complex; large power users such as Service Stations; Hotels; Hospitals; several medium businesses as well residential customers.

This strong customer base is divided in four customer categories being:-

In line with the distribution and supply of electricity; OPE also do electrification of un-electrified areas; maintenance on existing infrastructure; strengthening of old electrical infrastructure; new connections of those seeking to be connected on the OPE grid etc.

In order to ensure that our customers receive the best possible customer service they deserve; OPE is equipped with a 24 hour fault reporting centre which allow our valuable customers to report any kind of fault occurring within the boundaries of Oshakati.
